COHORT FACILITATOR
Mariko O. Gordon, CFA

Mariko was a pioneer on Wall Street, one of a handful of women of color who founded an institutional money management firm in 1995. At one point, she was responsible for managing $2.5B for large public and corporate pension funds, endowments, and foundations. She was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, books on value investing, and spoke at the Ira Sohn Investment conference before an audience of 5,000 at Avery Fisher Hall. Mariko managed a concentrated portfolio of U.S. small-cap stocks while running a small business and raising a family. Today she mentors business owners and provides money management and financial planning services to individuals.

“This course would benefit those who are ready to develop their financial maturity, in terms of being self-accountable and responsible leaders. It’s really for anyone who cares about what they’re creating in the world whether it’s through their business or in their families - building healthy sustainable financial habits, how to manage resources, how to weigh information in making choices.”

I wasn’t looking strategically at it the way I relied on my controller/CPA. There was a story behind those numbers, and I needed to understand that story better – as a CEO. How could I honestly be making decisions that are so important without that understanding. I was so busy working “in” the business and not “on” the business
